Biobased material represents one of the most abundant renewable sustainable sources worldwide, able to replace fossil fuels in a wide range of industrial application. However, the diverse biobased feedstocks can be characterized by high of low water content, shape and dimension dis-homogeneity, unwanted features which can affect the efficiency of any valorisation or upgrading technology. For this reason, RE-CORD dedicates specific efforts to investigate and applicate suitable biomass pre-treatment systems able to convert any raw biomass into a high value feedstock for further processing technologies.
Our research centre studies and design dedicated pre-treatment systems, in order to optimize the performances of advanced conversion systems. In its experimental area, RE-CORD is equipped with machineries able to briquette, shred, chip, roast and dry any type of biobased feedstock, before using it in the different thermo-chemical treatment units.
Thanks to the pre-treatment section of the experimental area, our engineers and scientists are able to test diverse feedstocks in a wide range of processing units. Feedstocks categories processed in the RECoPARK are the following
